Michael is a well regarded senior solicitor and executive with strong communication and interpersonal skills in the specialist area of law, environment and planning, and complex commercial litigation. He has held a number of legal positions predominately in the Government sector working directly under the General Counsel, and is a Lecturer in Conveyancing and Environmental Law at the University of Sydney.

Michael has had a broad range of experience, gained through his early career in Government Departments of Water Resources; Crown Solicitor’s Office; and Planning followed by a career in leadership, consulting and management within the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority as Deputy General Counsel, Legal Branch. This experience is supplemented by two years at the Commonwealth Department of Human Services.

Michael is results-focused and an effective leader with a proven track record in successfully developing, managing and leading teams to achieve results, having managed a team of 30 staff in Legal Branch. In addition, his role also involved managing the delivery of legal work performed by law firms on the RTA panel. He has an excellent leadership style, solid analytical skills, strategic approach and the ability to maximise efficiencies and productivity within an organisation. Michael has trained stakeholders throughout NSW on legal updates and structural implications, both past and present and is very astute at managing ministerial directives, dynamics and requirements and creating value for the stakeholders.

Michael is well networked, engaging with good management consultancy skills. He inspires confidence, is self-assured in his abilities; he has good analytical skills, and has shown a strong commitment to ensuring outstanding results. He has worked as both Deputy General Counsel and managed senior roles.
