Jameson Law is delighted to announce the appointment of Sarah Azar as the new Head of  and Commercial Advisory and Litigation. This key leadership move follows the firm’s strategic restructure of its Commercial Law department, designed to support its expansion into international markets, including Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the USA.

Sarah Azar is a seasoned litigator with extensive experience across a broad range of complex matters. Her litigation background allows her to identify potential issues before they arise, offering clients commercially practical solutions to avoid disputes where possible, and delivering strong advocacy when litigation is unavoidable. She has acted in litigation matters across all jurisdictions in Australia, particularly within the commercial space.

Her expertise spans complex contractual negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder disputes, regulatory compliance, cross-border transactions, construction litigation, complex debt recovery, insolvency matters, and general commercial litigation.

Prior to entering private practice, Sarah gained valuable experience in compliance at one of the largest privately owned stockbroking firms in Australia and New Zealand, and later served as a policy officer at the New South Wales Department of Finance, Services and Innovation, where she worked on critical issues such as cybersecurity and financial technology during the pivotal period of Bitcoin’s introduction and the broader emergence of cryptocurrency. At the start of her legal career, she worked for the first female Attorney General of New South Wales representing the Department of Justice.

Sarah has also contributed to major inquiries, including the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation, and Financial Services Industry, and the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. Her career foundations were built through rigorous litigation training at a top-tier Sydney firm. Her work extends across debt recovery, construction disputes, insolvency, intellectual property, franchising, and employment law.

A notable aspect of Sarah’s practice is the strong network of relationships she has built with former colleagues and clients across the finance sector and beyond, many of whom have become long-standing trusted clients. Her approach underscores a commitment to excellence, practical outcomes, and client satisfaction.
